A long cream cottage with a wide, white-railed porch and a brown roof — the perfect place to enjoy a quiet morning. This is the largest unit in the E3 series, at nearly 1,000 square feet.

At 998 square feet, RHQ-E3-02 is the most spacious design in the E3 series. It is for the landowner who already knows they want the most space of the 10 options in this series.

This design suits a young couple or a family with one child. With two bedrooms in 998 square feet, the shared spaces get a larger share of the total area, and a ratio of 2 bathrooms to 2 bedrooms lets almost every bedroom have its own bathroom. As a guide, a plot of about 2,100 square feet is needed for this single-storey design once the front, side and rear setbacks councils usually require are allowed for.

At this cost, this design is usually built as a first home on a controlled budget, a second house on family land, or a rental unit. It is also the easiest amount to get approved, because the monthly instalment is low relative to most incomes.
