About this house

Carved gables, dark timber and a grand layered roof — this house takes its inspiration from the traditional Malay house and scales it up for a modern family. Seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms: not just a house, but a family home the whole family comes back to every Hari Raya.

RHQ-D1-10 has 8 bathrooms — the most in the D1 series. That is a clear design decision: personal comfort put ahead of adding one more bedroom.

This design suits a large family, or two generations under one roof. On average each bedroom accounts for about 688 square feet of the total area, and a ratio of 8 bathrooms to 7 bedrooms lets almost every bedroom have its own bathroom. Because it is two storeys, the building footprint needs only about half the floor area. As a guide, a plot of 5,200 square feet is enough once the building setbacks councils usually require are allowed for.
